On March 11, 2017, with the melodious echo of Scotland air whistle once-a -year ethnic celebration was held at Saint Martin’s University ceremoniously and quite a few nations have displayed their unique culture.
I am fortunate to participate in the ethnic celebration organized by Chinese Association, Olympia, Washington State and our exhibition booth mainly offered the following activities: the first one is translate the names of foreigners into Chinese and write it with the calligraphy and finally affixed a seal with Chinese Zodiac. The second one is teach the people how to make use of the chopsticks and get it with various shapes of fruits. The third one is to use the brush to practice writing the Chinese numbers on the Nylon Taffeta. A continuous stream of foreigners came to our exhibition stand and they had been longing for a Chinese name and their own seal with Chinese Zodiac, and when they got the red paper they repeatedly said thank-you to us. Some 260 people attended our stand and 212 people got their own Chinese name, which surpassed the number of the previous years.
Furthermore, the activity has music, dance, painting and other exhibitions, multi-culture collide, interexchange and fuse together here, and the gaps between various nations and ethnic groups were narrowed to a large extent. The elaborate organization and co-ordination by Chinese Association has developed and expanded the traditional culture of Chinese nation, and the forebears of many Chinese there in US were the Chinese laborers abroad and pioneers of US western development movement. Although they are a far cry from the native land of China, they still have the strong native complex and attachment to one's motherland as well and they are the descendants of the dragon.
